I'm sorry to be so slow in responding to Bernd's post, but the Christmas Crazies have overtaken me. Bernd was kind enough to write: >I've got the feeling that you know much more than you show. My not-so-proud boast is that I know about as much as you can from just lurking on the safe side of the bleeding edge. One thing I don't know is for which printers there's any advantage to PiezoBW, versus MIS VM or FS, if IJM has not profiled the paper you want to use. In that case I have the impression that MIS is about as easy to use as PiezoBW on a printer for which Paul has done the curves. In the case of the 1160, however, my remembrance is that, even at 2160 dpi (PiezoBW) vs 1440 (Epson), the PiezoBW driver was said on this list to be quite a bit faster than Epson's driver. Is that true? If it is, then maybe the PiezoBW driver is worth the extra money to someone who isn't intolerant of the relatively warm prints. In the case of the 1280, the consensus seems to be that the Epson driver's 2880-dpi print option prints as well as the PiezoBW driver. And I guess the 1280's Epson driver at 2880 is also slower than the PiezoBW driver? But I'm not clear on whether 2880 is overkill? Is the 1280's Epson driver inferior at 1440 to the PiezoBW driver? If not, is it slower even at 1440? If it is, then again, maybe the PiezoBW driver is worth the extra money to someone who isn't intolerant of the relatively warm prints. I hope those of you who know about this will indulge me. I'm most concerned about the quality of the print and its longevity. But I could live with only warm prints. And I have several hundred old family photos to reprint. So I think I would pay IJM $300 for the PiezoBW driver(s) if that would let me print them appreciably faster. Thanks. Sam
