Digital BW, The Print

With the Nikon 8000 I scan my B&Ws as grayscale positives.  It seems to work
well.  I got clipping with the grayscale negative settings.  

I wonder what the scanner's attempts to remove the "mask" does to a B&W that
is scanned as a color negative.
