RE: [Digital BW] qtr on 4000- black area problems with banding

2005-09-30 by Tom Moore

Well I don't have a 4000, but I did have a similar problem with my 2200. In
my case it was with a glossy paper (Ilford Smooth Pearl, I think). Prints
would be fine with the Epson driver (using Paul Roark's method), but
printing with QTR produced banding in the direction of paper movement. The
banding was only in the deep blacks.

I determined that it was caused by pizza wheels on the 2200. The only cause
that I could theorize was that the Epson driver did not put down quite as
much ink as QTR and the ink was dry enough by the time it reached the wheels
that it didn't leave a mark. In my case I used the method suggested by MIS
to raise the wheels. From then on QTR worked just fine.
