This is the general approach that DigiMarc uses to embed a watermark that is
invisible to the viewer. It is probably the most well-known way to track
images across the web, if you want to pay the yearly sub and also subscribe
to their image-spider system.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
