Hi, I had tried HARD making B&W prints with MIS inks on my 1280. The heads were constantly clogging up on me even when I just did Black Only (BO) printing. I did get a few good prints but it was not worth the effort. At the advice of some of the more knowledgeable folks here, I have dedicated a 2400 to B&W prints and an Epson 220 to BO prints with MIS inks. (No more clogging) In short, I'd not recommend the 1280/90 for B&W if you want to use any inks other than Epson.
