Thanks, Clayton, OK, how about this scenario: I keep the color dye carts in their original position (not as good as pigment, I know, but ok for the occasional family non-archival snapshot), with the original black cart in its slot. Then, when I want to do BO, I put the Eboni in its place. Simple! Also, Paul suggests it may be necessary to wipe off the pads during this exchange. But how do I store the black cart I'm not using? I'd really not go with two printers just yet... not enough room, for one thing.
