Paul kindly sent me carts to test. I installed the EZ-W Yellow, and swapped
the Epson light and light-light blacks to MIS versions as well. I then printed
PrintFIX PRO 2.0 targets, and built both neutral, and tinted profiles. The
result is very interesting, offering those creamy carbon tones that many B&W
printers prefer, with tintability. There is more optimization to be done, probably
on both the PrintFIX PRO 2.0 side, and the ink formulation side, but it seems
like it has the potential to be a great solution for R2400 users to run MIS
K4 inks, and switch just the yellow cart for printing B&W... no more effort
than switching blacks to move from matte to gloss; less actually, as you don't
have to fight with the driver about the change, like with gloss/matte changes.
I'll bring a few samples from this inkset and PrintFIX PRO 2.0 to Photokina
with me.
