Hello Pierre, >My personal struggle has to do with DSLRs 3:2 (1.5 aspect ratio) >printed on 6:4 (1.5), 7:5 (1.4), 11:8.5 (1.29), 14:11 (1.27) and >19:13 (1.46) papers. > >I wish I could process the image once and be able to print it easily >on standard paper sizes all having the same aspect ratios. I too have never liked the longer 35mm ratio. In the film days most of my work was with 6x7 and 4x5. But I was never fully satisfied with the 4:5 ratio either and always thought the prints were a bit too fat. When I got into digicams I was happy to discover they all used the 3:4 ratio, which seems perfect. These images look very nice in the standard frame sizes. So for the past 2+ years I've used a Canon Pro-1 (8mp with 3:4 image ratio) and I consider it to be the ideal format. One of the reasons I delayed getting a DSLR was my dislike of the wider 2:3 image. But that's about to change as I'm in line to get one of the new Pentax K10's when they arrive next month. >How do you guys handle this craziness? I'm planning to get a KatzEye focus screen that has etched vertical composition lines for the shorter format. I'm hoping this will help me to compose the way I've gotten used to.
