QTR 101

2006-12-02 by neilsphoto

OK so this is a question, well maybe several about QTR and various
inksets. I've done searchs here but this is maybe more basic than the
topics and threads I found.

I print with a 2200, print from digital caputure and scanned negs and
am pretty much happy with BO and UT7 printing on mostly matt papers.
I am not one to make my own profiles. I barely have time to print at
all it seems.

So why be interested in QTR? Well there is my question so here goes.

Reading front the QTR website I should be able to .........

1. Print with OE 2200 inks and make B&Ws w/o meteramism (sp) and
adjust print tone on the papers I use with QTR profiles. OE inks
never fail me whether I print every day or once a month, they always work.

2. Do the same as above with UT7s from MIS. UT7s don't like to sit
idle, really don't like to sit idle unistalled while I have OEs in the
printer.

Still do BO prints when I want w/o changing a thing.

Use the new Cone Neutral/warm/Split 7 ink sets. I've never used Cone
products. I went with BO early on when the 2200 out of the box didn't
give me the B&W I wanted. I'd heard/read that Cones clogged and had
other problems. I wanted none of that. Has that changed? Keep in
mind sometimes I don't print for a month.

So am I correct in the above? QTR would do all that? Give me all
those options?

Then again it sounds as if maybe a new 3800 would do all of the above
including maybe BO with nothing but OE inks.

So I'd like to get some opinions on how well QTR works with what I
described above. I just never considered it before as I need to keep
it simple and reliable so when I get time it all works w/o clogs etc.

Thanks ahead of time

Neil
