I don't know what to suggest.  I used a 2200 for two years and
regularly ran heavier stock through it without problems.  That said,
the reason I traded it in for a 2400 was because the paper feed
mechanism began to show signs of wearing out, so maybe they can take
only so much of that kind or use.  2200's are getting long of tooth
these days, so maybe your problems are due to a worn paper feed mechanism.
