Hello Roy, >Thanks for your efforts. It's certainly an interesting set of scans... Well...guess what? I just got back from Steve's house. He had switched his 3800 over to MK and I went over to do some tests. The Black setting with MK _is_ BO. The ramp is totally different than the one on glossy paper with PK - it's the good old BO dither we all know and love (well, some of us anyway <g>). Amazing. I just removed the article, it seems moot at this point. I wonder what Epson's thinking is on this... Sarah, are you reading this? Should make you a happy camper. BTW, in the process of testing it I made a BO print (with the Epson MK) on Merlin Natural and it looks very nice. Even though there are no Eboni carts for the 3800 right now I think a judicious choice of papers will produce some good results. But no doubt getting Eboni into it will be welcome. Another thing I found with the 3800, which I don't like, is when you select VFA paper it forces you to use the rear feeder and disallows custom small paper sizes. The 2400 allows VFA and small sizes into the top sheet feeder. Comparing 2400 and 3800 ABW prints - they are very close in tone, with the 3800 versions being a bit more greenish. All the other settings as used in my simplified workflow work the same. The driver interface is laid out differently, but it's all pretty much the same.
