That helped, Philip, thank you. I had considered that earlier but
thought that procedure was more for vertical alignment... and my
banding was horizontal. Anyway, in the instructions for using this
utility, it was not clear to me where to proceed after the first test
print. It said to choose the squares that had no banding to do one
thing, but if none of squares was clear to do another thing... but
some of the four patterns of squares had squares with no bands and
some had squares with some... so I made my best guess (not sure if I
made clear what I mean, perhaps you know what I'm talking about!).

Anyway, I ran the alignment a few times as best as I could figure out,
up through the color portion, then did three more nozzle checks and
cleanings, then ran the purge page (to reset the firmware as I learned
from the MIS tip sheet) then did three more nozzle checks and
cleanings. The cyan nozzle check is almost perfect now, so I've made
some progress. Again, the tip sheet suggests to do no more that two
cycles of three checks and cleanings, with an intermediary print, then
to wait two or more hours for the bubbles to clear out (or something
like that.)

Then, my black cart ran out! So I'll have to refill it and try again
later. Am using the Eboni bulk black ink in one of their spongeless
carts, a fairly straightfoward procedure. This is my third refill on
that cart, so far so good.

Thanks again... I'll check back later.
