Keep your 4000 for the matte black ink and use the photo black in the 4800. Thanks to everyone that replied as well. I've thought of the 3800 as an option but lacking roll paper feeds and the "lighter" build is pushing me towards the 4800. I've been using a 4000 for 3 years with no troubles so really looking forward to K3 inks in a platform as sturdy as that printer. It sounds like proper planning of printing styles may be the key to economical (relatively) ink usage. That or having two machine running at once. I can't remember how much ink is used. I seem to recall circa 80ml of ink but perhaps someone else has a better memory. > From: Alan Kearney <alan_kearney@ <mailto:alan_kearney%40sbcglobal.net> sbcglobal.net> > Reply-To: <DigitalBlackandWhit <mailto:DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint%40yahoogroups.com> eThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2007 11:13:35 -0700 > To: <DigitalBlackandWhit <mailto:DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint%40yahoogroups.com> eThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Subject: Re: [Digital BW] Re: Switching black inks - Epson 4800 > > I sorry Steve but I'm still confused.
