Digital BW, The Print

Walt, I understand your frustration with getting the image on the paper
where you want it, but I have not had those issues. So, I haven't fought
your battle and amassed that frustration. What size paper are you using?
Sheet or roll? And do any of these printing problems show up with QTR and
Qimage? 

 

I have not seen them with Qimage, but I don't usually worry about center
lately as many of my images are going on roll and trimmed a bit so a
fraction off is not an issue and many float a little so the paper size does
not fight against the edges of my portfolios and my workflow.

For those printing from CS3 to Epson printers, a warning. CS3's interaction
with the Epson driver makes it very difficult to center an image, unlike CS2
which was fine in this regard. The solution is to select "Centered" in the
Epson driver *and* "Maximize printed area" (as opposed to "standard"). As a
matter of fact, if "Maximize" is selected, the CS3/Epson driver interaction
may center the image whether you want it or not and whether the CS3 dialogue
has centered checked or not. The caveat here is that the latest Epson driver
for the 4800 (V. 5.5) mysteriously eliminates the option for
standard/maximize. I had to reinstall the older Epson driver V. 5.1 to
restore this option and center an image.
