Peter, sorry but I confess to being befuddled as well.
My file size does not increase until pixel info is added to the mask.
I'll keep my eye on it for a while to see if some situation chenges
that behavior, but a quick test just confirmed it, both 8 and 16 bit.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
