I was just doing a little hovering over my printer, a 4800, and notice a slight ticking sound. It looks like it is caused by the ink lines hitting the front body of the printer when the head is returning to the right. Ain't no big deal. If that is what is causing you sound, you might try a small piece of foam on the printer body/chaise and prevent the lines from hitting the edge. I looked inside the printer with a flashlight with the cover up as it was printing and could not see what was causing the noise. I think perhaps it was happening each time the paper advanced. In any event, the sound has now mysteriously stopped and I have made many prints and smaller test prints without any noise. On another note: Does any know if this printer does a cleaning cycle EVERY time the machine is turned on? Or are all those startup machinations / gyrations doing something else? - Jeff --- In DigitalBlackandWhit <mailto:DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint%40yahoogroups.com> eThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Carl Schofield <list@...> wrote: > > Are you sure that the printer head is not hitting the edge of the > paper? Try increasing the platen gap and see if the ticking goes away. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
