I guess that it depends what printer you have. I used to refill the carts for my 1280. It's not all that difficult but can be messy if you're not careful and you can also cross contaminate too. Then there is the issue of resetting the chips. If you're refilling the carts with the sponge you have issues of air in the sponge and the sponge deteriorating over time. I have found a CIS with spongeless carts to be the best solution.
