Re: [Digital BW] Piezo on 7000 - good enough for 8x10?

2002-02-03 by Michael Kravit

Quentin,

ImagePrint 4 is dotless.

Remember that most RIPs compartmentalize the inks from what I understand, and overprint to fill in between the dots, while dirtributing them to create specialized dither patterns. (My laymans explanation, I know that Austin will give it to me for that one ;-)

Anyway, the dither pattern on IP4 is similar to Piezo but not quite the same. Give me your address and I will send you a print.
I hear that P2 is basically the same dither as IP4 although the P2 version is stripped down and offered with the different parts as an option. For example, Cone charges extra for the color section, etc.

  Mike,

Is Piezo 2 dotless - or should I say, as dotless as Pro24?

I realise it is probably based on Imageprint 4, but I would think we
will have to wait and see output from it to be sure. Piezo Pro24, on
the other hand, is a proven product and has no visible dots on a
7000 - to me at any rate :-).

I have not seen output from Imageprint 4 - what is its B&W output
like? I guess if *that* is dotless, that probably answers the
querstion for Piezo 2 as well.
