You might post this in the FS section of the large format group at
www.largeformatphotography.info. There are lots of people there who scan 4x5
film, some in the San Francisco area.

[slightly off topic, but this might be interesting to someone who
needs to scan large format or b&w negatives]

I'm selling my complete LeafScan45/Mac G3/Radius PressView scanning
station. It includes everything you need to jump right in and start
scanning: hardware (scanner, computer, monitor, tablet), software (os,
photoshop), plugins, etc....

I'm asking $1000.00 for the entire system. If it's interesting to you
but you think it's worth less, drop me a note telling me what you'll be
doing with it and what it's worth to you. I'll entertain offers but
I'm not in a tremendous hurry to sell it so you'll have to be patient.

The LeafScan45 is a tinkerer's dream these days (there's little
commercial support anymore) that produces wonderful scans. It'll scan
from 35mm to 4x5 in color or monochrome (using a neutral density
filter instead of just desaturating a color scan). If you're not familiar
with it, here are a couple of places to get started:

  Yahoo LeafScan group
    http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Leafscan/

  The LeafStuff site
    http://www.leafstuff.com/

I'm not interested in shipping the system (don't have the original
palette for the scanner), so you'll need to pick it up in the San
Francisco Bay area (USA). On the other hand, I'll happy to sit down
with you and run through all of the various ins and outs of the system
when you come by to pick it up.

I'd really like to see the entire system go to someone who will
actually make use of it.

The G3 Mac was beefy in its day. It can drive a second monitor via an
IxMicro add-in video board and includes a Silicon Valley Bus ADB<->PC
keyboard/mouse converter. There's even a 6x8 Wacom Digitizer II
tablet. It also includes an extra beige G3 system that you can use
for parts or....

The Radius Pressview 17 SR display was state of the art, designed as a
reference color system for professional developers. This one hasn't
been used much (only when actually scanning), so the phosphors are
still crisp. It includes its hardware calibration device and the most
recently available Radius software, a velcro-on hood that prevents
reflections on the tube, and the original neutral-gray lab coat that
keeps your flashy aloha shirt from distorting your image's colors (no
kidding!)

The scanner itself has had its power supply and bulb replaced by me
with parts from Leaf Stuff. It's running firmware 4.0, which I gather
isn't seen much in the wild but according to Leaf's documentation
doesn't differ significantly from the more common 4.1. It comes with
a variety of Beseler film holders, including 6x9 and 6x6 holders which
have had their handles filed off and a 4x5 negaflat holder.

Here's a more detailed list.

Apple Macintosh G3 Beige tower
original-ish cardboard box (different system, same model)
      768MB Ram
      9GB Internal disk
      Mac OS 8.6
IXMicro PCI video card (supports second monitor)
      mac keyboard

      Photoshop 6.0.1
      Leafscan 2.2 SCSI plugin

Silicon Valley Bus ADB<->PC keyboard/mouse converter
Wacom Digitizer II 6x8.5" adb tablet

Spare Macintosh G3 beige tower (no scsi card).
as is, good parts backup for above.

Misc. Apple OS cd's and cables and....

Radius Pressview 17 SR display
       original box
       hardware calibration device
       final software releases
            PressView software

magic neutral grey lab coat (radius trivia!)
