I was just very lucky to aquire a free 2400. It appears to work prefectly except one very annoying issue. It has very slight microbanding on all resolutions and papers I have tried so far. A quick search on google reveals that this is a fairly common complaint among 2400 users, and I haven't found any solutions so far. Suggestions I've tried include: - Clean print head I've tried automatic and manual cleaning Nozzle checks are perfect - Align print head I've tried automatic and manual alignment several times. However, it seems that the alignment is only for vertical banding. The horizontal alignment procedure from the 2100 driver is gone. I have to wonder why they removed it, it seems this printer really needs it. - Try a higher resolution (Photo RPM instead of Best photo) No improvement - Uncheck 'High speed' No improvement - Try a different paper type Selecting thicker or thinner paper types definitely affect the banding, but "very slight" instead of "obviously visible" is the best I can do. - Try QTR QTR has much worse banding in 1440x1440 super. I haven't yet tried 2880. I'd rather use ABW if possible. I'm running out of things to try now. Any suggestions? I really love the fast print speed and the convenient control with ABW, but I need to be able to make gallery quality prints or the printer is worthless to me. Another thing, the paper feed on the 2400 is a definite step down from the 2100. It refuses to feed papers much more frequently than the 2100 did and seem to require frequent cleaning of the paper feed mechanism. I can live with this however, as long as I can find a solution to the microbanding.
