The 1800 3MK gets about as good a dmax as any of them, and the best 
I've ever seen on Arches un-coated.  After all, you have a huge load of 
ink you can deliver if the paper can take it.

The 3MK is a fine workflow.  But, like most technological things, there 
is progress.  Of course, from Epson's perspective, part of that 
progress is keeping third party inks out.  So, the 1800 carts are far 
more available than the 1400 carts.  As far as I know, no one has a 
resetter for any of the Claria printer chips either, and those auto-
reset chips are a bit of a nuisance -- except with a CIS.
