If you have a good printer and like it, why change? Frankly, I never extend warranties on things like this. I'd think a problem would show up soon if the machine was not put together well. I have returned at least one printer to Epson that had used third party inks most of the time, and they simply asked if OEM ink was in the printer (not if non-OEM ink was EVER in the printer). Since the OEM ink was (then) in the printer, I told them that. They asked what the numbers were on the ink carts. I told them the Epson numbers, and they then authorized the return. I think a legitimate position they could take is that the only problems they are responsible for is those that happen when OEM ink is in the printer; they do not warrant that their machines will work with all inks.
