If you're proficient with QTR you could certainly come up with some combination that would make the 1800 a variable tone printer. > For R1800, the rest of 5 unused ink positions are: Cyan, Magenda, > Yellow, Red, Blue > > Other than MK/PK, UT7 has 6 inks: light black, dark gray, > light gray, cool tone, sepia tone, light cool tone The UT7 was made so that it could run on a k2 printer using the Epson driver. That won't work with the 1800. The LK, in particular, is going to be redundant and not needed. It was a compromise due to the Epson driver and the inability to stop the LK from being used. It is a blended ink -- just a little blue in it. > I would like to use light black, dark gray, light gray, As noted above, I'd avoid the UT7 LK. It simply will not add much. The UT7 light and dark grays -- in addition to an MK or PK -- should be all you'll need for your carbon channel. Use broad skirts -- lots of overlap -- on the curves to suppress microbanding. > cool tone, sepia tone in R1800's 5 positions. > Any suggestion to set this up? If you dump the LK, you could ad a PK and have glossy compatibility. Good luck with the system. Paul www.PaulRoark.com
