I have a 2100 (European version of the 2200) for quite some years 
now. I use it with MIS UT3D inks, I drive it with QTR and I'm happy 
with the results. 

Is it the best possible printer to start with anno 2008? I'm not 
sure. The 2400 gives good results out of the box with Epson inks. The 
reputation (I've not seen results myself yet) of the new 1400 is also 
quite good. It depends on 1) price 2) your willingnes to tinker with 
other inks and software.

If I would set up my 2100 from scratch I would probably go for Paul 
Roark's 4K+ inkset, accepting that I need a RIP like QTR to drive it.
