Hi. So far I have never burnt the paper at all. It must be held firmly and square to the blade of course. Your blade appears to be ideal. I find a gentle postiive feed of the blade without hesitation works best. If you go too slowly and really take a long time in cutting the roll you just may run into a burning issue. If the blade is not new and has been used quite a bit for cutting resinous woods you might have burninging issues. That is why most people keep a blade just for cutting paper rolls. A blade used to cut MDF moldings, etc. will also have some of the crispness taken off the cutting edges even though the blade looks clean.
