There ARE programs to deal with pop-ups.  Go to ZD-Net and look for a
program called "ZeroPopp.zip".  I have NOT used it, but was enthralled that
such a thing was available.  While you are at it...go to:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ and download AdWare and the updater...it is a
program that will remove the keystroke capturing programs that are secretly
installed on your computer when you install some other software...and some
of these keystroke capture programs CAN and DO capture your passwords!
