I find the dmax with Arches Hot Press to be good enough with no coating at all.  So, I don't mess with any of the coatings.  While I think experimenting with coatings might be interesting, I think one point of using Arches is to avoid any coating that might be seen as a source of problems down the road.  

Arches is already internally sized with gelatin, I believe.  What little information I found on the likely long term archival effects of this sizing appear to be positive.  It may actually help the paper.  In any case, Arches' reputation in the the art field is such that the fewer additional chemicals added, the better.
