RE: [Digital BW] Epson R1900 VS. Epson 2880

2009-10-16 by John Slaughterbeck

Thanks Guys, I ordered the 2880 today, now it’s time to learn all about
Black and White printing, and what all these initials mean. Anyone know of
any good web sites to order a CIS system ?

I have a r1900 and have to agree with the Epson people. The initial color
images on gloss were beautiful. After profiling they were amazing. Then I
switched to UT-3D which I had left over from a failed printer, not for the
faint-hearted. I was finely able to get a very good print with a strait line
curve -QTR- on glossy paper. Unfortunately this printer will not accept
anything other than glossy paper to my dismay. B&W on glossy is... OK, but
far from the quality of print I want for the effort. IMHO Go 2880 for B&W.

Printer, I'm torn between the R1900 and the 2880. I print both Black and
White and Color, probably more so color. Is there really any advantage to
the 2880 over the 1900 taking into consideration the price difference. I
consider myself an advanced amature photographer more into portraits than
anything else. I've been following the discussions here, and want to start
developing my black and white skills. Any advise would be appreaciated.
