The thicker ones can be used for signing on papers like that but on most 
matte papers they still scratch and by that get clogged.

The thin ones 0.13 are excellent for retouch on any paper. Stipple 
technique. I use old R\ufffdtring and new Staedler Marsmatic 700 pens. Fill 
them with the lightest grey ink etc for B&W.  For color prints good 
watercolor pencils are  easier though. I use the Caran d'Ache brand.

It would have been nice if they had pen inks 30 years ago that 
functioned as good as inkjet inks do today :-)
