Which monitor for B&W only? That's a very interesting question that I don't think I've ever seen asked before. All the advice you normally see is based on color gamut and calibration capability being of utmost importance. Since you're only going to use it for B&W, it would seem that a wide gamut, highly accurate color reproduction monitor, ie, expensive, is not needed. It would seem that you only need to be able to calibrate so black and white point are properly shown and then the intermediate tones are displayed in relatively correct (linear) manner. Is this correct? Does this much more narrow need (than for quality color work) really require the premium monitors that people here are suggesting???
