Hi Randy:

Depends on what features you are looking for.  However, before dropping a lot of money on Silverfast, I recommend you checkout Vuescan ($40 basic and $80pro for raw and color management and unlimited updates/upgrades; and works with OS X, and 10.6 to 10.3).  Although the UI is non-standard it yields excellent results once you climb the learning curve (at least in my opinion) the UI makes sense. Moreover, it has more user options than anyone could expect.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
