I have a new (actually refurbished) 1400 printer on the way. Is it ok to use the Claria ink that comes with it and then switch to MIS EB6 or would it be better not to use the Claria at all?

I've never heard any word on this from MIS. I'd probably just load the Eb6 and save the claria until I really needed it for something. If the printer doesn't work, then I might load it just for testing. Many say to always test a new printer with OEM ink. I'm not sure that accomplishes much. With the MIS Eb6 carts, be sure to open the air inlet plug before using. Also, I'd set the carts right side up and let them sit for a day to let any foam that might have been generated by mailing rise to the top. Supposedly, at least some HP printers MUST be started with the OEM inks supplied WITH THE PRINTER. I bought an HP demo model that the ink was missing. I just purchased a set of inks and tried to get the printer working. It would NOT work with even HP ink, it HAD to have the ink that came with the printer. To make matters even worse, you CANNOT purchase these initial inks from HP, no way, no how...I was fortunate enough to be able to return the printer. The explanation HP gave me was that the inks supplied with the printer had a "cleaning" solution to run through the heads on initial start-up, and the printers would not initialize with "regular" inks. So, there could be something to the practice of starting your new printer with the included inks. John K.

I used my 1400 right out of the box with the UT-14 inkset. I still have the claria inksets in their original wrapping in a drawer. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "John K Stacy" <John_K_Stacy@...> wrote:
