1400 & hot press

1400 & hot press

2010-12-06 by Louis de Stoutz

Sorry for a naive question:

Many of you seem to be using Epson's hot press paper on the 1400.
How come it's not officially a supported paper for that printer?
Any problem? (Thickness?)

Thanks for some enlightenment,
Louis

Louis,

I use it all the time. It is a little thick for my printer and I have to
give it a gentle push to get it started but it prints fine.

Well, the folks that print on it are probably not using the Claria inks;
they are probably going with Eboni/Cone/etc. carbon formulations; that's
why it isn't on the Epson "supported" list. A single sheet of Hot Press
feeds fine by itself in my 1400, a single sheet of Moab Entrada 300
needs me to rest my hand on it before it will feed.

I really like the Hot Press Natural.

It is the only paper I am using.

I tried this paper (once) in an Epson 2400 and got head strikes. Then, I found that the 2400 is not on Epson's list of printers for hot press. Does anyone else have experience with the 2400?

Re: [Digital BW] 1400 & hot press

2010-12-09 by Tom Husband

I've been using Hot Press on my 2400 without any problems. Some time ago I
was getting what thought were head strikes so I put a couple books (total 2"
high or so) on the paper output tray so the paper doesn't droop down as it
comes out. Haven't had any issues since.
