Make your own Portfolio K?

Make your own Portfolio K?

Here's an interesting use for Noritsu K.

H. Photo Rag on my 1400 has a dmax of 1.71 with Eboni. With Noritsu K it can reach 1.99! (That was with an overnight dry. Will it be over 2.0 tomorrow?)

If I make a profile that uses enough Eboni to hit 1.69 and then add some Noritsu K, I get 1.77 (immediate read). In this case, even if the dye totally fades, the carbon dmax is still 1.69. But, this is an advanced dye that (assuming it is Claria or equivalent) does not fade as fast as the old dyes. Think of it as a bit more stable than typical third part color pigments. I'm assuming I can balance the fade rate v. dmax by changing the ratio of carbon (Eboni) to Noritsu K.

Note that HPR is the only matte paper I've tested with this approach that has shown this significant increase in dmax. The Epson HP had only a marginal increase in dmax. (Arches uncoated watercolor paper is not as good with Noritsu k as it is with Eboni.)
