Some new test results have been posted. See http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/ The best data is for members only. It's worth it. Suffice it to say, we are seeing up to about an order of magnitude better results with some 100% carbon systems over the popular OEM solution. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

Thanks for pointing that out. I have been participating into advocating the pure Carbon approach since two years and finally fade tests are proving that right. The chemistry of carbon is quite well known and other arts forms also confirmed its longevity. Too bad that my Carbon-Gelatine approach has been left out of the Aardenburg test system as it was judged too proprietary for common usage. That combines pure carbon ink with the extra protection of gelatine coating. I am doing my own "south windows" fading test and the black patch has not moved a bit in almost one year. And the sun in Southern Italy is pretty hot. Mantinieri http://www.mantinieri.com

Definitely worth it! I do some photography for architects who are submitting buildings for National Historic Register standing, and I have also been in touch with the Register... they are accepting my 3MK Eboni prints as meeting their archival standards. So I would say the Aardenburg tests enhance my work. What do members of this group think about using Premier Art Print Shield spray? I make it a habit of using it on my prints... it's supposed to increase longevity and provide some scuff resistance - among other advantages. Paul.. I use Premier Art shield on virtually ALL my UT-14 B&W prints (glossy or matte), and I find it's a GREAT "leveler' for the finish on Ilford Gold. I ALSO use it on ALL my dye-based prints (with the exception of super-glossy or pearl metallic)..sprayed glossy prints lose a touch fof their shimmer with the spray, but you still can tell it's a glossy (and acceptable IMHO.. Good endorsement, Eddie, thank you. The reason I brought that issue up in this thread is that I submitted my sample prints to Aardenburg with that spray, and although the results so far are very good, it doesn't tell me how my particular combination of printer/ink/paper would have worked without it. So, maybe I should've submitted my prints unsprayed. But, like you, I use it all my prints, and it's the final step in my workflow. Happy Holidays!
