Which Curve or profile

Which Curve or profile

2011-08-06 by Greg

I am a little bit confused here.

I have ordered and received an inkset from MIS for an Epson 2000P.
The inkset is FSNEK6-4. It is listed as containing UTFSN C,M,C,M,Y,K.
The actual ink bottles are labelled as UTFSN-4-C,LC,M,LM,Y,K.

So what do I have and which curve should I use. I looks to me as if it has the 4 tone inkset, CMCMYK, but the bottles are labelled according to the positions that you fill them in.

So I imagine that the UTFS Curves for the appropriate paper would be right.

Can anyone confirm this?

Cheers
Greg

The MIS UT-FS inksets (medium warm or neutral) are monotone carbon + color (blended in to neutralize the carbon warmth) B&W inksets for a variety of printers.

My write-up of the UT-FS inkset for the P2000 is at
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/2000P-FS-Readme.htm
There is a link from this to a page of curves for various papers.

Today I'd go one step further and put those curves into an ICC using QTR's Create ICC-RGB. See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Embedding_Photoshop_Curves_in_ICCs.pdf For now, however, just try to find a curve for a paper that is close to what you're interested in and see you it works.

Good luck with the setup.

Re: Which Curve or profile - Note re. old web pages & obsolete links

2011-08-06 by Paul

By the way, I noticed in my old UT-FS Readme file that I had at least one obsolete link/URL, and one that will become obsolete soon.

All links/URL of mine that start with "http://home1.gte.net/..." will likely be dropped at some time in the near future. Please let me know (off list) if you find any of these so I can attempt to transfer the contents to my current ISP.

Also, if you find MIS links that are not current, please let me know about them (off list).

Thanks.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your reply. I have that sorted out now. I have read your instructions and downloaded the curves.
I must say how much I and no doubt other users appreciate you making these curves and instructions freely available. It makes life a whole lot easier.
Thanks
Greg
