1100 for Eboni-4, 1400 for Claria-Noritsu Dyes

1100 for Eboni-4, 1400 for Claria-Noritsu Dyes

Going forward, I'll support the 1100 with Eboni-4. (See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/1100-Eb4.pdf ) I've pulled the dyes from it. I'm not sure anyone aside from myself was mixing them anyway. I'm no longer going to blend any dyes. The blending seems to take too much magenta, and there is some risk of catalytic reactions. The 1100 makes a very good pigment platform.

The 1400 is so good with the dyes -- the inks it's designed for -- that I'll focus on that platform with the Claria-Noritsu B&W workflows. While the OEM setup with toned black only and color used in an ABW type of mode works OK, the setup with an "LK" is terrific. Note that a sample card printed with the OEM Claria setup and shown to a major paper company rep prompted this response: "I wanted to tell you that the card on Polar Pearl Metallic is stunning. I'm not sure I've seen a black & white look that good on inkjet before. Amazing!"

But the setup that includes "LK" is even better and allows an Epson driver workflow for speed and use of different profiles in different selection areas in the same print as needed for brochure printing. I'm now using this Epson driver workflow to print gallery brochures with a very light yellow dusting on the white borders so that the bright paper brochures better match the natural paper used in the carbon pigment display prints. It works.

(Note that I'm not abandoning Eboni-6 on the 1400. [http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Eboni-6.pdf] It is already well supported, and I do still have my old 1400 set up with Eboni-6 as needed.)
