Refilling and syringes/needles, etc.

2014-08-09 by vsr98@...

First, a thank you to Paul Roark for his detailed descriptions and instructions regarding Eboni 6.

I started with pre-filled ink cartridges from inksupply.com and liked the prints. When my ink ran out, I ordered the refillable ink kit.

I plan on following the instructions here:

http://www.inksupply.com/product-details.cfm?pn=REF-T079-6-EB6-KIT&printerID=67542

but I had a basic question. Once I use the syringes, needles and fill adaptors once, what do I do with them?

1. Leave them to air dry and re-use them next time I need to refill?

2. Wash them out with water, then leave them to air-dry and re-use?

3. Use them in single use fashion and start with a new set of syringes/needles/adaptors?

Thanks,

Vijay

I rinse the refilling accessories and let them air dry. I use a bulb blower to blow the water out of syringe needles and bottom fill adapters.

Eventually the syringes might get stiff and hard to use. Some use silicone lubricant spray on the edges of the rubber part of the syringe plunger (terminology?). I now use some generic base in a squeeze bottle to lubricate that part. Given the number of syringes with the set and the quantity of ink, you may never run into this problem.

Good luck with the setup.

Rinse and air dry. If you are using them daily, have two sets.

Cheaper on Amazon too.

In Canada, the best places to buy syringes for refilling cartridges are (farm) animal feed and supply stores. I buy 60ml syringes and needles, and then grind down the sharp tip for safety.

Hi
That's a good thing to know.

I bought mine with the full kit more than a year ago and , after a lot of refilling, it seems that I will replace the refillable cartridges earlier than the syringes. Up to now, rinsing and air drying is OK between refills. The syringes are very well made and robust.

I have been refilling for 20 years I still have some syringes that are around 10 years old for using with my all in ones. When I bought my wife the Canon 9500 about 4 years ago when she went digital with her scrapbooking and calendar making I got new syringes for it. I have been through well over a gallon of ink and am on my fourth quart of Light Magenta as she favors browns and pinks. Still using the same set of syringes all that time. I rinse with water and air dry.
I use a kitty litter tray for refilling and always wear Latex gloves I purchased always full carts but due to the fact that they gave no low ink warning and ruined an expensive sheet of photo paper each time they ran out. I purchased a chip re-setter and Original empties on Ebay and now fill 4 or five cartridges of the main colors each time I run low no stopping to refill just pop out and put in a full refill.
