LaCie monitor calibration

I've been using a LaCie 22" mk II for almost two years now, and I calibrate it with a Spyder from Colorvision, using PreCal and Optical. I set my white point at 5000 K, since I also use a GTI Softview transparency/print viewer that utilizes 5000 K lamps. I find that the combination works very well, though I'm not wild about the way you have to scroll and press the buttons on the monitor. Maybe they've changed that on the mk III's! I'm about to try the Profiler Plus software for working with the 1160 I use for quad-tone printing and the 1280 I use for color. I shoot and scan a lot of artwork, so the color correcting is critical. This system also works well for evaluating prints, since I can compare the prints I make to the file on the monitor side by side. I don't know where you folks live who are looking to buy a LaCie, but there is a wonderful guy in my area who sells mostly Mac stuff, from whom I've bought my computer, monitors, scanner, printers and camera. His name is Dan Kaden, and he has a business called Dancer Computers in Amherst, Massachusetts. I don't get any kickbacks; I just really appreciate his knowledge and help. I think he can be reached at dancer@...
