Piezo Pro 24 RIP

Piezo Pro 24 RIP

2002-04-02 by toomagenta@aol.com

I just called Inkjetmall to find out how much the 7000 driver would be as a
stand alone (no cleaners, no inks) , and they told me it was unavailable that
way. One had to buy the kit.
Having had green problems and clogging problems with thier ink in my 1160, I
felt that I didn't want to be forced into purchasing their ink for my 7000,
as I know I am not going to take a chance with it again.
BTW,I now use the cone driver with the MIS FS in my 1160, and I have not had
any problems. And I have saved a considerable amount of money to boot.
Has anyone been able to purchase just the RIP? Is this a new policy?
It's too bad, because his RIP is great, but I am looking into Image Print 4,
which sells for a lot less than Cone's kit. Image Print is working on an
upgrade for the MIS VM Sepia inks to be included at no additional charge.
And a friend of mine who deals with a company in CA. showed me a print of his
done with another RIP which is soon TBA. It looked excellent, no dots, great
tones! Only problem is it is being devised for MAC first! (problem for me,
that is). And this one is suppose to be a lot less expensive than Cone's
drivers. And can be used with a multitude of hex black inks.
So, has anyone seen any hextone prints made with an Epson 7000 using the
Image Print 4 RIP?
Any comments welcome.

George,

I am currently using the Colorbyte ImagePrint 4 RIP on my Epson 7000
with the MIS FS Neutral Tone inks. Have you seen one of my prints? If
not, I can tell you that the RIP produces lovely fully detailed
continuous tone prints. Lovely shadow detail, midtones and
highlights. The rIP is flexible, you can use Cone Inks, MIS Inks,
Lyson inks and it also does color.

You can arrange multiple images on the same sheet of paper in
differeing sizes. After printing, the spooler feature lets you repeat
previous print jobs. You can adjust inks indiviually and do many
other things.

Colorbyte is currently profiling the following papers with MIS FS
inks for me. Once complete the profiles with be placed on their
website for down loading.

H. Photo Rag 308
H. William Turner
Museo
Legion Photo Matte
Bright Cube Eclipse Satine
H. Torchon
Epson Textured Fine Art

IP4 is an open system, in that you can have ICC profiles made by
anyone. The concept is to have an open system that allows the end
user to utilize any ink set and any paper he/she desires.

They are also currently working with the MIS VM ink set as well. I
would image it will be supported within a few months. This is a small
company and they are developing a desktop version, and a Mac version
as well.

If you have additional question, please let me know.

Mike

George,

I am also using a 7000 with the IP4 RIP and MIS-FS inks. Just
finished framing and hanging a show of prints that I finished this
past weekend. Images from 35mm Tri-X, scanned at 2800 dpi
on Minolta Multi, printed 18x27 on 24x36 Legion Photo Matt. Was
very pleased with the outcome, especially considering how far I
was pushing the info available. The show opens Friday and has
already received considerable praise.

The Colorbyte people are a pleasure to work with. I started with
the MAC version of the software but ran into problems, probably
because I am using an upgraded MAC system. Now I am
transferring to a Dell Laptop and printing from there. No major
problems. I will continue working with the Colorbyte folks to
make the MAC version be all it can be on my system.

Must also say, Mike Kravit is both a gentleman and a fine source
of information for any traveling down this particular road.

Butch,

Thanks for the compliment.

I spoke with the Colorbyte folks yesterday. They say that the
profiles I requested are just about done. They should be able to post
them this week.
