The dry powder is very fine, light, and can easily become airborne with a bit of air movement. There's a significant risk of inhaling some of the dust. That's why it's recommended that you mix the powder in a well ventilated area, preferrably outdoors. The premixed liquid concentrate elimates this concern.

Jesse, The liquid is less toxic in the sense only in the sense that it is diluted and less likely to be inhaled. The danger in with working with the powder is the chance of inhaling some. I do my measuring and mixing of the powder out doors. If you have any interest in using or working with pyro then I strongly recommend that you don't proceed until you read the "Book of Pyro" by Gordon Hutchings. He covers all the technical and safety issues very nicely. You can order it for $29 directly from Gordon at: Book of Pyro Box 2324 Granite Bay, CA Or from the Photographers Formulary or Bostick and Sullivan http://www.photoformulary.com/ http://www.bostick-sullivan.com/ Martin Wesley ----- Original Message ----- From: "djmay6782" <djmay@...> To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Monday, April 08, 2002 10:38 AM Subject: [Digital BW] PMK Pyro toxicity (7 truths) > With PMK being highly toxic in dry form, is it less toxic when > purchased in a pre-mixed liquid concentrate? > > Jesse > > > > Please visit the Group Homepage to check the Files, Bookmarks, Polls and other resources as they are often being updated.
