How to boot from system X1.0....

How to boot from system X1.0....

2002-04-23 by Jerry Olson

Robert,

Could you tell me how to start up my computer using system X1.01

It is on one of my hard drives, but it is booting up in System 9.2.

When I go to the control panels/startup disk, I select the hard drive
System X.1 is installed on, but it still boots up system 9.2.

I've switched back and forth a couple times before, and had no problems.
Before, when I selected the hard drive with system X, a dialogue box
came up and asked if I wanted to boot in system 9.04, 9.2, or System X.
Now, when you select the hard drive with System X on it, nothing
happens, and it comes up in 9.2.

Thanks!

Jerry

Jerry,

Make sure you are seeing all of the startup disks available in the control panel,
perhaps scroll down. It should list your hard drive that you have both systems
on twice, one with 9 and one with OSX. Otherwise there is something wrong with
the way OSX is installed.

Regarding your earlier post, you get OSX v 10.1.3 through Software Update,
after you boot into OSX. There is now a more recent version, v10.1.4. Just go
to Software Update in the System Prefs and tell it to update "now."

Jerry,

The email I sent you bounced, for some reason. Anyways, here is what I wrote:

Just so I'm clear. You say you have system X1.0 installed. In the
About this Mac menu selection of the Apple menu, does it say: v10.1.0
(or higher) or v10.0.0 (or higher)? The key is the second number in the
sequence. It has to be v10.1.x for Software Update to work. If you DO have
10.1.x, go to Apple's OSX section:

http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/softwareupdates.html

All of the recent updaters are there...
