Bjorn, you are using a totally different system that is more akin to
platinum than to silver prints. I'm trying to find ways to produce a high
quality dig neg, and I've not found one sharpenough yet. So, I'm silver
printing those neghs that need it and dig printing those that look better on
inkjet.

And I thought it was just me not getting really sharp digital
prints! I fear my circa GBP10,000 investment in digital has been a
waste, what with microbanding (about 8 bands per mm on the 1160s)
that won't go away.

Surely not everyone out there takes pictures of blurred flowing water!

I've not seen a dig neg from an image setter, but I've had more emails from
folk who don't like them than those who do.
I think that inkjet are gret at what they do, but they are not replacements
for a silver print... yet/. I'm now just using both. But I'd love to be able
to apply my PS skills and get a silver print!

Julian,
I have had some success at outputing B/W to LightJet prints. They
beat the conventional silver prints in the sense that I can retouch
them in PhotoShop (i shoot portraits) and those prints look very
close to a silver one and certainly as neutral. I posted the workflow
a few weeks ago and if you need info, feel free to contact me at
