Has anyone printed on Bright Cube Semi Matt with the Piezo drivers and Piezo Ink? If so how did you like it and what driver did you use Vinny

I've posted quit a bit on this recently...check the archives. The best profile is Epson Premium Photo Glossy. You will need to spray the paper 24hr after you print it. I suggest Krylon 1305 as the spray. Check the files section for my glossy paper screen file. Semi-Matte has the same coating as prophoto silk. This is one of the best luster finish papers for use with Piezo or MIS quad inks. Robert

I am curious Robert.... Spraying the print after 24 hours.... I take it this is to "coat" the print so that the pigment does not wipe off. What if you left the print to "cure" for a longer period? Is the problem of smearing alleviated with some more time or is the pigment just sitting on the surface like a dust coating? What if the print was put behind glass and never touched? Do you think the image would be "permanent" or would the surface somehow change (dusting off of the pigment)? Sincerely curious, Steadman

Steadman, I've tried this! If you put the print behind glass without spraying you miss out on the huge dmax increase. Well worth persevering with. My main problem (a part from buying crapstuff this time, is finding a dust free space to let the prints dry. I was in a gallery yesterday, theowner was saying 'no' to inkjet but a customer bought two glossy prints - full price - anyway. Despite knowing I'd made the sales, the owner still said 'come back with silver portfolio'. I'd say that Brightcube Semi-Matte and Generations Prophoto Lustre could be framed underglass...the others...are too dusty. But...do you know what a difference another .5 dmax makes...well of course you do...you've seen a silver print. I'm going to send out a print on one of these papers for the June print exchange...I think there is still a slot left...curious Steadman. Good anecdotes Julian. The dustfree environment is always a problem. I have seen my own "spraying" attempts stymied by the inclusion of fibres and dust on the print surface...all while trying to improve the print. For someone who is slightly "picky" like me...it was just too much trouble and too much of a risk of decline of quality (due to dust etc..). Regarding the archival and glossy issues again.... It would probably be best if we all printed on plastic film (archival....."acid free" plastics only of course...hah) and with some type of ink that would adhere to the plastic. Hey Julian, I just remembered....it is only about 3 weeks to the "Big Event." Best wishes and good luck. Steadman
