VM Ink tones

VM Ink tones

2002-07-01 by azshtr

Its been a while but I'm back.

I just installed the VM Ink set with new cartidges and
components for the bulk ink system. I had been using the FS
inks. This is on an 1160. I purchased the inks about 6 months
ago but never used them. Downloaded the curves from the MIS
web site... etc.

My question is one of tones to expect. After many (25ish) purge
pages and 15 to 20 8x10 prints, I don't get the warm to cool shift I
was expecting. The cool curve is cooler, but not even close to
"Blue" like on Pauls web page. Actually the warm curve to cool
curve test prints are not that far apart.

Am I doing something wrong, not yet purged of the FS in the
heads, or expecting to much?

Thanks for any pointers,
Dave

Under what kind of light are you looking at your prints? My vm warm
and cool prints (with an 870) look very similar under tungsten
lights, but in daylight or fluorescent light, the difference is much
more pronounced. Good luck.

Thanks for the input to all.

My testing has been done during evening hours and I haven't
had a good look in other light conditions, maybe thats it.

I also noticed that when I set PS color space to PS5 default as
instructed, the gray space is set to 2.2, yet the instructions say to
set it for 1.8. Anyone else notice this? So I set it to PS5 default
then change gray to 1.8.
