Tried out some Somerset Velvet with my 1160/MISVM and Roark curves
and the prints look pretty soft and flat. Other people get the same
results and are there any good adjustments to correct this? Also,
anyone printing on Stonehenge paper? (Used to really like it with
stone lithos and wonder how an inkjet prints on it)

thanks,

mark

Mark,

I spent quite a bit of time trying to print on
stonehenge. It is inexpensive and easy to find,
but I finally gave up. The paper soaks up a LOT
of ink, and it is really blochy in the 60-90%
range. I am now printing on Somerset Velvet with
MIS FS ink.

Mark,

Somerset Velvet can be hard to print on well. It has just the look
you are describing. The ink soaks in and gets flat and dull, lacks
detail etc. This paper has been discussed quite well... as
recently as a week or so ago. A curve which lightens the shadow
helps. I used to print on it, but switched to other papers. My
prints looked good, just not what I was looking for. I used the
nevins transfer functions to print with. But that was 2 years ago. If
you want to use this paper, or figure out the curves to make it
work, I have 3 boxes to sell or trade if you are interested :)

Try the enhanced version of this paper. You will find it gives
crisper blacks, a cooler tone print and more detail.
