There is lots of dicussion about the 2200 and it's pros and cons.
But has anyone actually used one yet? If you have please let us know
what your opinion is.
Thanks

I have used one (a beta unit) and, out of the box, the prints (I was
printing both grayscale and RGB) the output was very nice. (I do print
with both a 1270 and Gen4 inks and a 10000 archival so I have some basis
for comparison). The grayscale images (printed with just black ink and
then with all 7 inks) looked slightly warm with the 7 inks. This was
with Epson's canned profiles. After we used these profiles, we built
some profiles with a Spectroscan and there was a slight improvement but
not a huge one. The printer was fast enough and VERY quiet. Granted, we
had a very short time with the printer, but my initial impression was
very positive. I'm buying one.

Just received mine yesterday. I've only made a couple of BW prints so far, but
neutrality is quite good using the canned profile for enhanced matte and I
couldn't detect any metamerism nor posterization. Blacks are a little weak, but
I don't have any matte black ink yet, which I hope will improve the black dmax.
My 1270 is still set up for MIS VM printing with Paul's curves so I'll do some
comparisons soon.

I just received mine a couple days ago. Initial impressions:
- easy to set up. the machine is nice and solid
- very quiet when printing
- fast compared to 2000P, comparable to 890/1280
- color out-of-the-box rivals professional profiles I had made with 890 and Gen4
inks. Not perfect (what is), but *predictable*: there is a clear correlation between
the soft proofing on the monitor and the printed results, which is often not the
case.
- quality of te color overall is wonderful on the archival matte.
