I checked this out, but unless I am misunderstanding something, Paul's
curves are only for MIS Variable Mix inks. I'm using an Epson 3000
printer, but at the moment, it has the ink cartridges it came with... 3
Original MIS Quadtones, and an Archival Black.

Would these curves work at all with my setup, or be a disaster?

Disaster YES.  Check out Chris Brandin's workflow for 4-color 
printers and MIS-Original Quad inkset on the MIS site.

The MIS Original ink positions are different than MIS VM, FS, and FS-
N.  The workflows are completly incompatable.

If you switch to FS, check out Paul Roark's FS workflow for the 3000 
(in the Woolf section of the MIS workflow page).
