[Digital BW] Re: News on the Sundance/R9 Software

>BW Pro is the RIP for the wide format printers $1450 >BW Pro lite is the same RIP but for desktop printers only $ 495 >Image Export is the stand alone PhotoShop plug in for desktop >printers $150 How does the BW Pro Lite compare to the Photoshop plug-in? (I assume the Photoshop Plug-in is the same as the PiezoBW plug-in.) In particular, has the BW Pro Lite cured the weak blacks of the Piezo software? (Matching the good blacks of the Epson driver on the 3000 would be very satisfactory. My impression is that on the 7000 the Piezo Pro delivers good blacks -- better than the Epson driver.) How does the dither look on the 3000? Is it as smooth as the Piezo at 1440? How about speed? (The Piezo at 1440 is smooth on the 3000, but very slow.) Does the BW Pro Lite allow one to use the computer, including Photoshop, while printing? (On my Win98 system, the Piezo software basically takes over the computer -- almost a fatal flaw for me.) Is the BW Pro Lite a dedicated RIP that just prints the Piezo/FS inks, or does it give one control of the inks so that I could modify it to print other inksets? If a new profile is needed, or the software isn't quite tuned for a particular system, can the user make a new profile or tweak the system to fit the particular printer? (Again, one reason I like the Photoshop-Epson driver approach -- flexibility.) I'd love to have a good, affordable RIP for my 3000, but, unfortunately, PressReady didn't work well on my PC-3000 system (banding). My past reading has indicated that inexpensive RIPs (R9 included) have not been highly thought of by serious B&W printers. (PressReady was the exception to this rule for many.)
