Hi Tony,

if what you're after is just experimenting a bit, I'd suggest you use only
virgin carts (i.e. throw away carts once empty): it's just a bit more
expensive, and you avoid the mess of refilling them (sucking foam out, with
the risk of leaving bubbles and ink particles in the cart).
Filling new carts is really straightforward (the worst you can do is
spilling some ink around), and once you've found the ultimate ink you can
decide whether to continue with carts or settle for a CIS.

I'm looking to start trying some alternative inks to my Piezo inks and will
probably start with batches of empty carts that I will fill with new inks.

Looking at the MIS site the procedure for refilling carts seems quite
complicated with tools like glue guns needed and procedures such as sucking
ink foam from the sponges. Do all cartridges require this procedure for
refilling or is it just the ones which MIS sells?

Tony,

The procedures differ depending upon the model printer you have. Since you
have and Epson I don't believe any glue guns are required for any model and
I recommend you use virgin cartridges on each fill so you don't have to
worry about things like sucking old ink out of used cartridges.

Filling cartridges is a bit of a pain and not something I would like to do
routinely but it is handy when you want to try new things.
